I will begin my review from the start of the day. Florida's income comes from tourists spending their money. We were never once treated with respect nor with appreciation for our business. Bottom line: I don't believe this company truly cares about their customer's expereince. We were utterly disappointed and will stick with other businesses for excursions when we come back to Florida. We didn't even get to sit down on the beach. I spent our only excursion money on what I hoped was to be a half day of shelling with my children on Shell Island, but it ended up being a completely rushed 2 hours. In addition, when I mentioned something to the boat captain, he used the over-used excuse of "this is above my pay grade." Yes, we have all heard this cop out of a response. In any business, sometimes you make a ton of money some days and other days you don't, but you don't give your customers a half-good experience because it's a less of a demand day. I understand that sometimes there is enough business to operate all 3 trips, and sometimes there is not, but I find it unacceptable to "cheat" people of their time on Shell Island just because there happens to be less demand on that day. ![]() This seemed completely unfair to not disclose this until after I had paid. I was NOT told that I would have to return 2 hours later and that the last shuttle of the day would not be running, and therefore couldn't take the last return trip (that was 4 hours later). I was called back and told that the shuttle would be running and I could take the noon shuttle to the island. What a disappointment! I called to ask about availability since it was midweek during the school year. We found a lot of larger & un-broken shells up by the backshore berm since it was after hightide ![]() On the way back we given a shells & birds informative sheet. We were fortunate to see several dolphins on are trip over to the Island. If they don’t have enough room on the shuttle, they will make another trip, so that you don’t have to wait another 2 hours for the next shuttle time. When you are ready to board the shuttle back to the dock, it better to be towards the back of the line to get off the shuttle 1st. After everyone is off the shuttle, they will lend you beach umbrellas & snorkeling equipment, but you will need to bring water, beach-chairs, blankets (which can be good to for a make-shift bathroom) etc. You give your name and number in your party and they will call name when boarding (so there is no need to started crowding to get on, you are boarded in the order you bought your tickets) 4. You will also be given free mesh bags for collection shells. ![]() When you purchase your tickets everyone in your party over 18 will need to sign a waiver. However, the store in front does sells snacks and has a bathroom to use before boarding the shuttle since there is no bathroom on the island. Purchase your shuttle tickets and parking pass at the little booth on the pier – not the store in front. Park along the water side at the meters – you can buy a parking pass for $5 that is good for all day when you purchase your shuttle tickets. We took the 10am shuttle to the Island so that there were fewer people and the shells were not picked over. This was probably one of the best things we did on our vacation.
